Healing can feel overwhelming especially when conflicting health advice, complicated protocols, and endless biohacks make you question every decision. In this mini episode of the Stop Chasing Pain Podcast, Dr. Perry explains why healing may be simpler than you've been led to believe. Instead of adding more, it may be time to master less and return to the fundamentals your body needs most.

What if the goal isn't to control life, but to become better at responding to it? In this episode of the Stop Chasing Pain Podcast, Dr. Perry welcomes back perception expert Dr. Beau Lotto to explore why life's nonlinear and unpredictable nature makes control an illusion. Beau explains the difference between control and agency mand how the curiosity, humility, and self-awareness we bring into each moment shape our perceptions, responses, relationships, and future.

Beau also introduces his new book, Becoming Evolvable, and the Evolvable.me platform, which uses neuroscience, psychology, and AI to help people see themselves more honestly and adapt more effectively. Together, Perry and Beau discuss why collaboration matters more than competition, how small shifts can transform our lives, and why becoming more evolvable begins with changing how we enter the present moment.

In this mini episode of the Stop Chasing Pain Podcast, Dr. Perry explains why better breathing doesn't need to be complicated. Learn how simple awareness, nasal breathing, slowing your breath, and gently lengthening your exhale can help calm an overwhelmed nervous system and shift your body out of fight-or-flight mode. Healing begins with the fundamentals and one intentional breath can be a powerful place to start.

You'll learn why more heat and longer sessions are not always better, how infrared exposure may influence circulation and cellular energy, and why it can be a valuable addition to the fundamentals of healing. Infrared therapy is not a replacement for movement, hydration, nutrition, sleep or medical care but it can help the body create a better internal environment for recovery.

In this episode, Dr. Perry chats with Connie Zack the co-founder of Sunlighten Saunas.

We discuss:

  • The differences between far, mid, and near-infrared wavelengths
  • Why hotter and more isn't better.
  • How infrared therapy may support blood flow, oxygen delivery and nutrient movement
  • The relationship between infrared light, mitochondria and cellular energy
  • Potential benefits for relaxation, sleep and nervous-system regulation
  • How infrared sauna may support exercise recovery and inflammation regulation
  • How beginners can start "low and slow" with shorter sessions
  • How session length should be adjusted based on health, energy and tolerance
  • Why consistency matters more than forcing yourself through an intense session

The goal is not to chase another complicated health intervention. It is to understand how a simple practice helps calm the nervous system, move the fluids, support cellular energy and improve the conditions in which healing can occur.

What if chronic pain is not something you have to manage forever, but something your brain and body can actually unlearn?

In this powerful episode of the Stop Chasing Pain Podcast, Dr. Perry sits down with Dr. Howard Schubiner to discuss his new book, Unlearn Your Pain: The Science of Recovering from Chronic Pain, Fatigue, Anxiety and Depression. They explore how chronic pain can be driven by learned neural pathways, nervous system sensitization, stress, emotion, and the brain-body connection, not always by damaged tissue.

Dr. Schubiner shares a science-based, compassionate approach to helping people understand their symptoms differently, calm the threat response, and begin creating the conditions for real recovery.

If you or someone you love feels trapped in a cycle of pain, inflammation, fatigue, or fear of movement, this conversation will open a new door. It is a reminder that healing begins when we stop only chasing symptoms and start asking better questions about the nervous system, the brain, and the story the body has learned to protect you with.

When it comes to chronic pain everything matters, including scars. Why scars? Two big reasons...

  1. Neurosensory dysfunction where you have poor communication to the brain from the lack of sensation and pain is the output signal from the brain.
  2. Fascial thickening which can influence movement compensations over time leading to pain.

What is the most important thing to know? Check the scars and work the scars. Hope to see you at the webinar.

In this episode, Dr. Perry breaks down why rebounding is more than just jumping on a mini-trampoline. It is a simple, low-impact way to support lymphatic flow, circulation, balance, proprioception, and nervous system regulation.

The body depends on movement, pressure changes, and rhythmic loading to help move fluid through the lymphatic system. Rebounding creates a gentle up-and-down pumping effect that may help stimulate fluid movement, improve tissue oxygenation, and wake up sensory receptors throughout the body.

Dr. Perry also explains how rebounding can influence the brain-body connection by challenging balance, coordination, vestibular input, and foot-to-core integration. Even a few minutes of gentle bouncing can be a powerful way to help the body shift out of stiffness, stagnation, and sympathetic overload.

This episode is a reminder that healing does not always require complex strategies. Sometimes the body needs rhythm, movement, pressure, and play.

Key takeaway: Rebounding is not just exercise. It is a nervous system, lymphatic, circulatory, and proprioceptive reset.

The diaphragm is more than a breathing muscle—it is a pressure-regulating, nervous-system-modulating, fluid-moving powerhouse. When the diaphragm is restricted, weak, over-braced, or poorly coordinated, the body can compensate through the neck, shoulders, low back, pelvic floor, and jaw, creating chronic tension and pain patterns. Poor diaphragm function can alter rib motion, spinal stability, lymphatic drainage, venous return, vagus nerve signaling, and sympathetic "fight-or-flight" tone. In chronic pain, the question is not only "where does it hurt?" but also how is the body breathing, bracing, and managing pressure? That will impact pain.

We always check the diaphragm.

BIG 6 Lymph Reset Video link

Youtube Lymph Playlist

In this epdisode Dr. Perry talks about the brain cleaning system and how if it's clogged you will have brain fog and more pain. So clean your brain environment for optimal healing.

The glymphatic system is the brain's waste-clearance pathway, moving cerebrospinal fluid through spaces around blood vessels to wash through brain tissue and carry out inflammatory byproducts, metabolic waste, and excess proteins. That fluid then drains into the meningeal lymphatic vessels, which connect the brain to the body's broader lymphatic system, especially through lymph nodes in the neck.

When glymphatic flow or lymphatic drainage is impaired, waste and inflammatory signals can build up, increasing neuroinflammation, tissue stress, immune activation, and potentially contributing to symptoms such as brain fog, poor sleep, headache, and impaired recovery.

Get ready to change your story. Life changing podcast you are about to drop in on.

Mark England is the head coach and co-founder of Enlifted Coaching — a mindset and language-based coaching system built around the idea that "mindset is the story you tell yourself."

After a background in athletics and teaching, and personal experience with injury and transformation, Mark developed what he calls the "Enlifted Method," a practical, repeatable toolkit using language, breath, and narrative to help people overcome limiting beliefs, self-sabotage, and victim-mentality stories.

His work isn't just about "positive thinking" — it's about noticing how the words we say (both out loud and inside our heads), how we breathe, and how we frame experience shape our identity, drive decisions, and determine whether we stay stuck or move forward.

Some Highlights:

  • Mindset = internal story. The story you tell yourself about yourself. Rewriting that story (through words + breath) you literally change your life trajectory.
  • Language shapes reality. The method emphasizes that simple "word changes" — shifting from conflict language to empowered, clear language by dismantling limiting beliefs, reduce anxiety, and build confidence.
  • Breath as an anchor & reset tool. Conscious breathing underlies the work: slowing speech, calming the nervous system, and using breath to shift emotions so you can think and act from clarity rather than panic or overwhelm.

In this mini podcast episode Dr. Perry talks about how facial massages calm the nervous system and help pain When you massage the face, you're not just working on skin — you're speaking directly to the trigeminal nerve, the largest sensory nerve in the entire head. Gentle pressure on the forehead, cheeks, and jaw sends calming signals into the brainstem, lowering threat, softening sympathetic overdrive, and creating a shift toward safety.

The trigeminal system is deeply wired into pain modulation and stress processing, so when you relax the face, you literally turn down the volume on the stress response. It's one of the fastest ways to reset the nervous system: change what the face feels, and you change what the brain perceives.

  • Facial massage stimulates A-beta mechanoreceptors, which quiet pain signals.
  • The trigeminal nerve feeds into autonomic centers calming the fight-or-flight loop.
  • Releasing tension around the jaw and eyes decreases sympathetic load almost instantly.
  • Touching the face shifts emotional tonethe. The limbic system responds to facial relaxation.
  • Relax the face to down regulate inflammation.

In this episode Dr. Perry talks about the power of ear massages and how they calm the body.

One of the fastest ways to calm your body is through the ear. The ear is loaded with nerves that talk directly to your autonomic nervous system—especially the vagus nerve, the trigeminal nerve, and small branches of the facial nerve. When you gently massage or rub the ear, you're not just working skin...you're sending a powerful signal to the brain that says 'you're safe.'

This boosts parasympathetic tone, eases muscle tension, improves blood and lymph flow, and drops pain levels. It's a simple, accessible reset that helps shift you out of fight-or-flight and back into healing, recovery, and regeneration mode.

Do it daily for 30-days and feel the difference.

In this episode Dr. Perry has a chat with Chris DaPrato DPT, SCS, CSCS, PES, MFDc the lead instructor and innovator of Integrative Movement Health

We discuss the science and applications of cupping in helping pain. There are a lot of myths out there about cupping and Dr. DaPrato sets the record straight. If you have ever wondered if cupping is a theraputic option for you, this is the episode you do not want to miss.

Some of the highlights.

  • Movement matters — it's not just passive suction Dr. DaPrato emphasises that MFD is distinct from traditional passive cupping because it combines negative-pressure suction with active movement or loading.

  • Fascial shear, glide and viscoelasticity are key targets Chris explains improving the sliding/ gliding surfaces of fascia, increasing viscoelastic properties and thereby enhancing mobility and tissue responsiveness

  • Cups can be used as neurosensory tools not just mechanical tools One of his points: the cups provide sensory input — mechanoreceptor stimulation, nervous system modulation, proprioceptive feedback — which can influence movement patterns and motor control.

Dr. DaPrato currently treats professional and NCAA athletes at UC San Francisco and UC Berkeley, while teaching in the Orthopedic Residency for their School of Medicine. He is a strong proponent and educator for manual therapy in sports and has presented evidence informed practices at conferences both nationally and internationally. After receiving his BS in Human Physiology, his Masters in Physical Therapy from Long Beach, and his Doctorate from Temple University, he went on to become Board Certified in Sports through the APTA.

Water is far more than H₂O — it's a living, dynamic system of information and energy. In this episode, Dr. Perry sits down with Robert Gourlay, founder of Mea Water, to explore the science and mystery of structured and energy water — how it forms, how it interacts with the human body, and why its organization might be the missing link in healing, hydration, and cellular communication.

Robert shares decades of research on how water holds memory, responds to energy fields, and connects all biological systems. You'll learn how structured water supports the body's natural bioelectrical flow, enhances lymphatic and mitochondrial function, and restores coherence to the fluid network of life — your internal Body Aquarium.

On this episode of the Stop Chasing Pain Podcast, Dr. Perry Nickelston sits down with Dr. Nasha Winters, a global thought leader in integrative oncology and author of The Metabolic Approach to Cancer. Together, they dive into the revolutionary framework Dr. Winters has developed to help patients and practitioners alike rethink cancer care.

This conversation explores how metabolic health, bio-individualized therapies, and the power of nutrition can shift the way we approach prevention, treatment, and long-term healing.

Highlights from Dr. Winters’ book include:

  • How cancer is not just a genetic disease but a metabolic one, deeply tied to cellular energy and mitochondrial function.
  • The role of the ketogenic diet and therapeutic nutrition in starving cancer cells while nourishing healthy tissues.
  • The impact of toxin exposure and why reducing environmental and lifestyle stressors is key to healing.
  • The importance of balancing the terrain—hormones, inflammation, immune function, microbiome, and emotional resilience.
  • Using bio-individualized therapies—tailoring interventions to each person’s unique biology rather than a one-size-fits-all model.
  • Why building metabolic flexibility and resilience isn’t just for cancer patients, but a roadmap for all of us who want to live healthier, longer, more vibrant lives.

This episode is a must-listen if you want to understand the future of cancer care through the lens of whole-body healing.

Dr. Emily Splichal returns as a guest to discuss her transformative journey—from conventional surgical training to pioneering sensory-based, functional podiatry—and to introduce her new book, Sensory Sapiens.

In it, she presents a sensory-centric framework for movement that champions the foot (and entire sensory system) as the key to longevity, balance, and injury prevention. Notably, she details how our body’s sensory intelligence—specifically through textured stimulation of the feet—enhances balance and proprioception; how foot stimulation supports bone density and even brain health by activating deeper tissues and circulation; how sensory stacking—layering various sensory inputs into movement practices—supercharges rehabilitation and performance; and how everyday contact with gravity as a “sensory hug” grounds and recalibrates both body and nervous system. Sensory Sapiens offers a compelling, research-backed blueprint for anyone wanting to age well and move better, organically and holistically.

Dr. Emily Splichal is a functional podiatrist and human movement specialist who initially trained as a surgeon at Beth Israel Medical Center (NYC) and Mt. Vernon Hospital before shifting in 2017 to a practice grounded in functional and regenerative medicine s

She’s founder and CEO of Naboso, a sensory-technology company devoted to awakening the nervous system via the feet—and soon the hands—with textured products and neuro-stimulators. A globally recognized leader in barefoot science, she has educated over 25,000 professionals across 35 countries and created the Barefoot Training Specialist® certification and EBFA Global. She is also the author of Barefoot Strong and now Sensory Sapiens, continuing her mission to help people move better and live longer by reconnecting with their sensory selves.

The thoracic spine is one of the most overlooked keys to resolving chronic neck and back pain. Acting as the central anchor between the cervical and lumbar regions, it influences posture, breathing, rib motion, and spinal stability.

When the thoracic spine becomes stiff or restricted, the neck and lower back are forced to compensate, often leading to overuse, tension, and pain. Because it’s deeply connected to the ribcage and diaphragm, thoracic mobility also affects circulation, lymphatic flow, and nervous system balance.

In other words, if you only treat the painful areas without restoring movement and pressure balance through the thoracic spine, the cycle of chronic pain continues. It’s not just a middle piece of the spine—it’s the missing link in many healing journeys.

In this episode Dr. Perry speaks with John White, the Founder of 'Spooky2 Rife' and 'aha halo' frequency therapy devices. We discuss how they help you in your recovery from chronic inflammation.

I have used frequency medicine for years in healing from my chronic pain and inflammation. It is a fundamental part of my therapy programs personally and professionally.

We talk with John about how scalar energy and frequency therapy help with cellular healing.

Bioresonance frequency therapy is rooted in the fundamental principle that your body is an electromagnetic system. Here are five key ideas that make this therapy so powerful.

🔹 1. Every Cell Has Its Own Frequency Your body is like a giant radio tower. Every organ, every tissue, every cell sends out a frequency. When you're healthy, those frequencies are clean and coherent. When you're in pain or dealing with chronic issues, that signal gets distorted—just like static on the radio.

🔹 2. Illness = Frequency Distortion Think of toxins, trauma, infections, and stress as noise. They disrupt your body’s natural communication. Bioresonance picks up on that distorted noise and helps recalibrate it—like tuning your instrument back to perfect pitch.

🔹 3. Resonance is the Language of Healing This therapy works by sending corrective frequencies that ‘match’ the healthy version of your cells. When those frequencies resonate, your body remembers what balance feels like—and starts to move back toward it. It’s a reset for your biofield.

🔹 4. Information Transfer, Not Medication We’re giving your body a signal—a message. It’s subtle, but powerful. Frequencies are transmitted through the body’s own electromagnetic field to influence how cells behave. This is quantum biology in action.

🔹 5. Your Body Already Knows How to Heal "Bioresonance doesn’t heal you. You do. This therapy just clears the energetic gunk so your self-regulating systems can wake up and do what they’re designed to do. It's like clearing a clogged river so flow returns.

If you’ve been chasing pain for years, maybe it’s time to stop and listen to the frequency your body’s trying to broadcast. Healing doesn’t always roar—it sometimes whispers. Bioresonance helps you hear it.

Well that all depends on how you are working your lymphatic system because not lymph reset programs are the same. You have to dive deep and look at the biggest blocks in the central lymphatics. If you miss the Central lyphatics you are still going to struggle.

You cannot reach those by dry brushing alone.

In this episode I speak with my friend Deanna Hansen the founder and creator of Block Therapy to help chronic pain and facia. A favorite tool and program I use and refer to all of my patients.

If you have chronic pain, tight fascia, poor posture and have been looking for help this one is for you.

Block Therapy is a revolutionary fascia decompression practice that’s changing the way we understand chronic pain, mobility, and healing. Deanna shares her inspiring personal journey from a state of physical collapse to discovering how working with pressure, breath, and intentional fascial release can unlock deep, lasting transformation in the body.

We dive into how unresolved trauma, inflammation, and stagnation get stored in the fascia, and how Block Therapy offers a unique hands-on approach to melting through these layers—literally and figuratively. If you’re struggling with pain, stuck emotions, or restricted movement, this episode will open your eyes to an entirely new way of thinking about healing from the inside

In this episode, join us as we talk all things hydration with Tracy Duhs, author of Hydrate. Modern Wellness advocate. Hydration expert. Educator, Experience maker. Community builder.

Tracy believes that optimal health is a fundamental right for all humanity, not just a privilege for a select few.

Helping people activate their vitality and feel alive has been Tracy’s lifelong mission. Growing up in a missionary home cultivated her profound sense of compassion and her desire to educate on the simple foundations needed to look and feel our best.

By the time she was 15, Tracy had already begun her undergraduate education in medicine.

At 16, Tracy shadowed a missionary doctor working in an indigenous village in Guatemala, where she gained hands-on surgical and medical training. The time she spent there opened her eyes and enlarged her heart, to the need for holistic wellness education and foundations.

After her experience in Guatemala, Tracy decided to forgo a traditional allopathic medical career in favor of one that focused on regenerative care and education.
When Tracy became a mother, her professional path took a personal turn. Her first child, Grace, was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroid and alopecia universalis at the age of two.

Emboldened by her daughter’s struggle, Tracy began her journey into hydration education by pursuing a Ph.D. in the field of biogenetics as well as shadowing doctors from all around the globe to learn their different approaches to disease.
It was through these experiences that Tracy became passionate about hydration as she learned the power hydration has to transform overall health and wellness in all people.

Today, Tracy works as a modern wellness advocate specializing in the restorative powers of intelligent hydration.
She has parlayed her wealth of experience and knowledge into a multi-dimensional career in wellness advocacy and education, starting with her podcast, HYDRATE.

Tracy frequently consults large corporations and hotels to help build and facilitate wellness experiences. She also serves as the Director of the International Brain Summit.

Tracy is the founder of the Sanctuary Wellness Experience in San Diego and co-founder of Hydrate at the Sanctuary.

In this episode, join us as we talk with Kute Blackson. A transformational teacher, speaker, visionary, guide and national best-selling author of You.Are.The.One. and The Magic of Surrender.

A beloved inspirational speaker and transformational teacher, Kute Blackson offers a fresh, bold look at spiritual awareness for a whole new generation. Born in Ghana, West Africa, Kute’s multicultural upbringing as the child of a Japanese mother and a Ghanaian father has spanned four different continents. His unique lineage lay the foundation for his approach to breaking down barriers and unlocking an individual’s true gifts and greatness.

Though Kute was raised all over the world, he had always dreamed of life in America. As if by kismet, he won a green card just after finishing school in London. He came to America alone just months later, with no connections or prospects. When Kute arrived in Los Angeles, all he had to his name were two suitcases and the dream of seeking out the spiritual and self-help icons who had inspired him when he was a boy.

Kute quickly learned that the “outside-in” approach favored by so many in the personal development space had to become an inside-out approach. So he decided to create his own method—a process that liberates the individual and the true self at the core and then pushes those gifts outward into the universe. This helps the individual get in touch with who they really are. It is a process of breaking free—so that the individual can live, give, and share the truest expression of their self. This is what Kute calls “Liberated Living.”

Spies Professor of Lymphatic Metabolism at Northwestern University, and director of the Center for Vascular and Developmental Biology at the Feinberg Cardiovascular Research Institute. Oliver is an elected member of both the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Academia de Ciencias de América Latina.

One of Oliver’s research focuses has been the lymphatic vasculature, and his laboratory demonstrated that Prox1 activity was required for the differentiation of lymphatic endothelial cells and the formation of the entire lymphatic vasculature.[9][10] They later showed the role of lymphatic vasculature on obesity.[11][12] His laboratory also identified Six2 as a critical gene in the process of generation of nephron progenitors[13] and demonstrated that Six3 activity was required for the formation of the mammalian forebrain and neuroretina in mice.[14][15] He expanded those results using embryonic stem cells and induced pluripotent stem cells to generate eye organoids that mimic early eye development.[8] In 2020, he published his research on the role of the Reelin protein promotes cardiac regeneration and repair by reducing cell death after heart injury in the journal Nature.[16][1

In this episode, we chat with Clint Ober, Earthing pioneer and author of Earthing: The Most Important Health Discovery Ever!

Clint grew up on a farm in Montana where daily life existed in balance with Mother Nature. His childhood days were spent chasing cows, baling hay, and walking the long rows of beets and beans pulling weeds while barefoot.

Of this time, Clint notes, “Everything was about the Earth.” Many of Clint’s friends were from the Native American reservation. He noticed that most things they did were different from what he was told was “normal.” One time, his friend’s mother told him to remove his shoes when they got home from school. “They will make you sick,” she said. Clint vividly remembers when the sister of his friend became very ill with a bad case of scarlet fever. Her grandfather dug a pit in the ground and placed her in it. He built a fire near the pit and sat nearby. The girl stayed there for a few days and then arose, much better. Clint helped pioneer the first-ever cable modem and distribution through personal computers of news reports from news agencies around the world. He was closely involved in the early development of programming and marketing for the cable and telecommunications industries, working with the top visionaries who created Cable News Network (CNN), Home Box Office (HBO), and other major cable networks. Clint was successful in every way possible, until 1993 when his health crumbled. It was only later in life that Clint realized that everything his friends' parents did was based on a much greater knowledge of Nature than he was ever taught. For more than 20 years, Clint has dedicated his life to improving the health of everyone on earth. In 1998 after a successful career grounding systems in the cable television industry, he began investigating the potential to improve human health with grounding.

Today, he is founder of Earth FX Inc., a grounding research and development company based in California through which he helped to develop, and patent, the first indoor Earthing products. His products are used by millions of people every day around the globe to improve their quality of life.

In this episode, we chat with Gray Cook. Gray is a practicing physical therapist, a orthopedic certified specialist, a certified strength and conditioning specialist and an RKC kettlebell instructor. He is the founder of Functional Movement Systems, a company that promotes the concept of movement pattern screening and assessment. His work and ideas are at the forefront of fitness, conditioning, injury prevention, and rehabilitation. You’ll find him lecturing on these topics several weekends each month, worldwide. His career started with an undergraduate degree in sports medicine and exercise science, with minors in athletic training and psychology. His interest took him to the University of Miami, where he studied physical therapy and furthered his strength and conditioning development.

Gray has introduced a systems approach to understanding, training, and rehabilitating movement. He contends that we must map movement patterns and consider movement as a behavior, not simply as clean mechanical data. We must also develop a better understanding of how movement is learned, maintained, and restored. Gray’s work cuts to the core of problems like low back pain, obesity, and the general physical decline of modern culture. By revisiting the natural developmental principals that all infants employ as they learn to walk, run and climb, Gray forces us the rethink motor learning, corrective exercise, and modern conditioning practices.

In this episode, we chat with Jonathan Kipnis, Ph.D. - BJC Investigator. Jonathan Kipnis is a neuroscientist, immunologist, and professor of pathology and immunology at the Washington University School of Medicine. His lab studies interactions between the immune system and nervous system. He is best known for his lab's discovery of meningeal lymphatic vessels in humans and mice, which has impacted research on neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and multiple sclerosis, neuropsychiatric disorders, such as anxiety, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism and Rett syndrome.

Kipnis is credited with the 2014 discovery of meningeal lymphatic vessels, a recently discovered network of conventional lymphatic vessels located parallel to the dural sinuses and meningeal arteries of the mammalian central nervous system (CNS). As a part of the lymphatic system, meningeal lymphatics are responsible for draining immune cells, small molecules, and excess fluid from the CNS and into the deep cervical lymph nodes.

While it was initially believed that both the brain and meninges were devoid of lymphatic vasculature, the landmark Nature paper by Jonathan Kipnis and his postdoctoral fellow Antoine Louveau was published in 2015. By 2016, this paper was cited nearly 200 times.

His discovery of meningeal lymphatic vessels was included in Scientific American's "Top 10 Science Stories of 2015", Science Magazine's "Breakthrough of the Year", Huffington Post's "Eight Fascinating Things We Learned About the Mind in 2015" and the National Institutes of Health's director Francis Collins year-end review.

Other research has included the 2015 discovery that the immune system directly affects social behavior and that IFN-gamma is necessary for social development. This expands upon his work as a graduate student when he discovered that mice lacking T-cells had cognitive impairments. (Biography reference - Wikipedia)

Highlights of this podcast include:

In this episode, we chat with Louis DiGiovine PT, who is a clinically talented orthopedic manual therapist with 41 years of experience. Lou graduated from the very first class at The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) in June 1980 giving him the distinction of being one of the first eighteen physical therapists graduating in the State of New Jersey.

He continued that “pioneering” spirit when he took his first position as a staff therapist at the busy and reputable Christ Hospital in Jersey City, NJ. Working and training in an urban General Hospital provided him with a strong background in medical and surgical knowledge. In 1983 he became a co-founder of Hudson Heights Physical Therapy (one of the first few private practices owned by physical therapists in New Jersey). Through that organization, he performed contract-hospital work at St. Mary’s Hospital in Hoboken, Palisades General Hospital in North Bergen, Meadowlands Hospital in Secaucus, Essex County Geriatric Facility in Belleville, The Industrial Medicine Center in Secaucus, Union City Visiting Nurse Association, and Christ Hospital Homecare Agency for more than five years. During those early years, he attended many extensive training courses, workshops, seminars, in-services, study groups, and conferences throughout the country. Lou learned all of this extensive training to become the best physical therapist that he could be and provide his patients with the best care possible. Throughout his early professional years, his primary area of interest and goals was to become an orthopedic manual therapist with a specialty in spine care. In time, Lou became known as a “spine therapist” and as a result received many more referrals from spine care physicians, also helping him to accelerate his knowledge base in the treatment of spinal injuries, conditions, and surgeries.

It was through the discovery process of learning spine care and treating many patients that Lou became acutely aware of the relevance and close interrelationship of back and neck problems, TMJ dysfunction, headaches, upper quarter dysfunction, shoulder problems, posture and pain, orthotics, body mechanics, ergonomics and lifestyle management. All of which he has received specific training and education. He has lectured on these topics to study groups, in-services, seminars, physical therapy students, industrial work sites, corporations, athletic organizations, and varied community groups. Throughout the past twenty-nine years, Lou has participated in various treatment programs and clinics including sports medicine clinics, amputee clinics, prosthetics and orthotics clinics, arthritis clinics, work hardening, worksite ergonomic assessments, pre-employment screens, and pre-season athletic screenings.

In 1996 Lou founded Excellent Physical Therapy Back and Neck Care an orthopedic physical therapy private practice dedicated to the treatment of spine care. Within the practice, he developed and implemented administrative and treatment standards of care through policies, procedures, and protocols. The interweaving of professional knowledge and experience with tested business practices is what made Excellent Physical Therapy a very unique facility where dedication to excellence was evident.

Lou DiGiovine PT continued his training and education by establishing a working relationship with two recognized spine surgeons and performing rounds with the physicians and their patients six hours per week for eight years. This once-in-a-lifetime experience allowed him to gain an understanding of the complete spectrum of spine care treatment including medicine, pain control methods, epidural injections, spinal diagnostics, indications, and contraindications of spine surgery, types of surgeries alternative care, and spine surgery rehab. Lou is an active participating clinician of the New Jersey Spine Institute, North American Spine Society, and The American Physical Therapy Association. He is licensed by the New Jersey State Board of Physical Therapy. He has inspired others to follow his lead and with the addition of experienced and qualified staff over the years, he has expanded the scope of Excellent Physical Therapy to include all orthopedic musculoskeletal conditions including the treatment of knees, shoulders, fractures, joint replacement, pediatric and geriatrics.

(Since recording this interview, Lou's practice has been acquired by Jag-One Physical Therapy. Lou continues to practice here and is also the Clinical Director.)

In this episode, we chat with Lauren Mones, owner and creator of Fermenting Fairy. A line of unique wild fermented foods. Healing foods.

Lauren was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in 2014. At the time, she was what some people considered “Uber healthy”. She was racing triathlons. A normal workout day consisted of running, swimming and biking for up to 6 hours per day. She ate a mostly clean diet and had a great career as a nationally certified Occupational Therapist. Her personal relationships with family and friends were solid. But she began to show signs of terrible gut health. She was sick. Very sick.

When the post drug drowsiness wore-off, the physician whispered in her ear "this is a life-long disease with no cure. You will need to be heavily medicated for the rest of your life." She was then told to go home, take medication and eat anything she wanted, that food had nothing to do with the activity of the disease. Her physician encouraged her that she would be able to “live an average life with Crohns”.

But Lauren was not content with that. She didn’t know anything about Crohn’s at the time, but what she did know, was that food, in particular plants, had always had a healing effect on her. Never having been one to live an average life, that fueled her fire! She changed everything, eliminated inflammatory foods and added more foods that were closest to nature. She managed stress levels better with personal growth practices.

She began making sauerkraut, kefir, kimchi, kombucha. She started studying the microbiome in depth. Not only was her body healing with these foods but she developed absolute awe for the microbial world. A world that is teeming with life. A world of balance, symbiosis and chaos.

Fermenting Fairy was born from this place of trusting her own inner compass and a deep desire to share these living, fermented, medicinal foods with you.

In this episode, join us as we talk with Dr. Jaban Moore.

Dr. Moore’s passion for restoring health through a multi-therapeutic approach came from a young age when his mother was diagnosed with Diabetes after a 3-year struggle trying to figure out what was causing her health to decline. She was diagnosed only because she was in a car accident and in the ER she was told that she was diabetic. Her doctors noted that it was possibly missed for years. By this point she had gained 100 lbs, her cholesterol was out of control, she had ulcers in her stomach, depression, high blood pressure, and chronic fatigue. Growing up Dr. Moore watched his mother’s condition progress adding new medications and symptoms by the year never curing or making her feel better for long just stabilizing one symptom until the next started. This eventually lead to thyroid cancer and 2 surgeries to remove the cancer. Through this experience, Dr. Moore found his mission to discover the root cause of a condition so that the progression can be stopped so the next person doesn’t have to go through a story like hers.

During chiropractic school when his own health journey began he started to decline physically rapidly with no known cause at the age of 25. Over the next year, he searched for answers with many different doctors. He was experiencing, fatigue, joint pain, and low testosterone. After not finding many answers from several doctors he was at a conference of functional medicine doctors. It was there he met one who suggested the possibility of Lyme disease. After some testing and further investigation, Dr. Moore was found to be positive for Lyme. This began his journey of learning how to treat it. After consulting several doctors and trying many treatments Dr.Moore found relief and has been symptom-free for over 5 years now.

Dr. Moore’s professional and postdoctoral training includes True Cellular Healing, Chiropractic Plus Kinesiology, Applied Kinesiology, Clinical Kinesiology, Acupuncture, Bio-Resonance Therapy, Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT), Nutrition, Rehabilitation, Functional Medicine and Blood Laboratory Analysis.

In this episode, join us as we talk with Robby Besner, owner, and CEO of Therasage.

Robby and his wife began Therasage from their personal journey to help their daughter manage, and eventually overcome her symptoms from Chronic Lyme Disease. With all of the challenges of our current health care system, it is their vision that each of us takes our health needs into our own hands through the use of a positive, natural, healthful regimen.
