It’s been chaotic on Instagram these last few days. After word got loose the company would soon be ditching its reverse-ordered timeline in favour of one based on an algorithm, many of its popular users reached for the panic button, asking followers to adjust their settings before the Doomsday switch was flipped. While the change hasn’t yet been made, the backlash was enough to make #RIPInstagram a trending topic.

This always seems to happen when algorithms and news feeds meet.
