THE TRUFFLE HUNTERS is an Italian documentary. It offers unique insights into the lives of a handful of elderly men, their dogs, and the joys and trials of truffle hunting in the forests of Piedmont, Italy. The men in the remote village are a remnant of a long generational legacy of truffle hunting. At the same time, the demand for the delicacy increases around them. While some are motivated by money, most of the old hunters love their time in nature with their skilled dogs, and the smell of truffle. However, with few young people taking up the mantle and few old people willing to relinquish their secrets, the practice only grows more coveted.
