Mom and author Taneka Ferrell found inspiration from her own family in the middle of a series of lockdowns. "My nieces, nephews and son have all been an inspiration to me. They can make other kids who read this book be happy and just be able to have something for them to open up and say, "that's neat". Having that drive and passion, we want as parents to support them from a young age. Just imagine what they'll be in the next few years."

✅ ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Taneka Ferrell is a Maryland resident and product of the Prince Georges County (PGC) schools system, Oxon Hill High School graduate, and University of Maryland Eastern Shore graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.

As a young black woman growing up in Maryland, Taneka does not look like what she has been through. Her story, testimony, and energy makes each person she graces her presence realize and understand that they do not have to allow their circumstances to become their blueprint for life. But rather, it can be a stepping stone for how to rise above, be fearfully and wonderfully made in God's image and give back no matter how much we may have lacked or not experienced in our youth.
