This week Labor announced changes to the media bargaining code that require social media companies to compensate publishers for news and written material included on their platforms.

With significant lay-offs in the media sector, this could provide an important source of additional revenue as advertisers have migrated to social media platforms that don’t have a public obligation to provide, accurate, factual information.
