You've probably seen plenty of celebrities and friends post that you need to vote. And I agree. But it should take that effort to get you to vote. Whoopi Goldberg spoke with my friend @DerrialChriston years ago and she told him that if people are looking to celebs to tell them to vote then they don't understand the history of voting in this country (aka not everyone has been allowed to vote and it's a privilege that should not be taken for granted). Also, my friend @DanielleRobay had a great take on this. She said that as young people may not be voting because we feel politicians don't care about us. Well, without voting they never will. I thought that was a wonderful point because in the end, politicians work for voters.
