APOLLO 11 is director/producer Todd Douglas Miller’s epic feature documentary capturing the tense, exhilarating days and hours of humanity’s first landing on the moon debuted in IMAX theaters on March 1, 2019 and for television on Sunday, June 23 on CNN. Primarily comprised from newly-discovered 70mm footage and more than 11,000 hours of audio recordings, Miller and his team worked closely with the National Archives and NASA to locate, digitize, and restore all sources of material related to the Apollo 11 mission. The result, ‘APOLLO 11,’ offers viewers a singular, immersive experience of the original Apollo 11 mission, with unmatched image clarity and pristine sound.

In this episode, we recognize the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 mission as Matt Morton reveals both inspirations and challenges of scoring the epic documentary. He talks about his desire to use and feature sounds, instruments and effects only available at the time of the Apollo 11 launch in 1969. Morton reveals some of the challenges he faced upon making this decision on how to reach his goal of authenticity. He also dives into some of his escapades in adding echo and a unique rhythm he developed for a climactic track "We Must Be Bold."
