Nitin Sawhney is one the most distinctive and versatile musical voices around today. In 2017 he received the Ivor Novello Lifetime Achievement award. His diverse expertise has established him as a world-class orchestral composer, producer, songwriter, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist. He has worked with and for artists such as Paul McCartney, Sting, A.R. Rahman, Brian Eno and Sinead O'Connor.

Sawhney has scored over 50 titles including: Channel 4's "Second Generation", BBC series "Wonders of the Monsoon" and Mira Nair's "The Namesake" He has also written the original scores to the video games: HEAVENLY SWORD and ENSLAVED: ODYSSEY TO THE WEST. He worked with actor/director Andy Serkis on his 2017 film "Breathe" with Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy, as well as on his latest effort for the Netflix film, "Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle"

Andy Serkis reinvents Rudyard Kipling’s beloved masterpiece, in which a boy who would become a legend, wants nothing more than to find a home. Torn between two worlds, that of the jungle and that of humankind, Mowgli must navigate the inherent dangers in each on a journey to discover who he really is. The film stars Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Benedict Cumberbatch, Freida Pinto, Matthew Rhys and Naomie Harris with newcomer Rohan Chand as "Mowgli".

In this episode, Nitin Sawhney opens up his score for Mowgli revealing how his main theme was written to reflect the essence of the titular character. Sawhney also shares how many of his intricate pieces were written, orchestrated, and performed to convey Mowgli's inward search and outward hero's journey, which both ultimately lead to his self-discovery.
