Grant and I have a long history of apathy towards any and all musicals, but after the virtually unanimous praise Damien Chazelle's La La Land received a couple years ago, we figured we should probably give it a shot. After all, if La La Land can't win us over, maybe musicals are just a lost cause for us. On the other hand, we like jazz, but we're not very well acquainted with the genre. We decided to explore a very recent incarnation of the genre with Fast Future, a 2015 album created by the fantastic ensemble that also recorded the vast majority of David Bowie's final EP, Blackstar, which we loved, by the way.
