A Podcast of Nappanee Missionary Church. Midweek conversations that dig deeper into some Sunday morning studies.
In the final episode of our Digging Deeper: Perspectives series, Pastors Andrea and Tim continue the conversation from the message on Sunday.
Elijah was a human just like us who went through an incredibly dark season. His gaze wavered from the Lord and his calling as a prophet. In that depression, God asked him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"
We're being asked the same question as believers today: "What are we doing here?" Are we truly building the Kingdom of God and pointing to His glory? Are we answering the call to be culture-creators?
Listen to this encouragement to fix our eyes on Jesus, return to our God-given purpose on earth, and influence change in our culture today.
When we see nothing, God is often up to something.
In this episode, Pastor Andrea and Pastor Peter discuss God's faithfulness and attention to the details, even in seasons when He seems silent or far away. We can trust God is working in the midst of our "nothingness" and cares personally for our needs. He often works in the tiniest details that we don't always recognize.
In seasons of nothing or loneliness, how can we tune our hearts to see God's perspective, trusting He'll meet us in those seasons and is working all things for our good?
Desperate times call for desperate prayers. In this episode, Pastor Andrea and Pastor Tim discuss the power of untamed prayers. Tim shares a few examples of audacious prayers he's seen answered in his own life—things only God could've made possible.
In addition to Elijah's untamed prayer for the widow's son to come back to life, Tim and Andrea look at other examples of untamed prayers throughout the Bible and how we can pray desperate prayers in our lives today.
In this episode, Pastor Joe and Pastor Tim look back on Easter Sunday and our celebration of Christ's victory over death.
As we're studying the mountaintop moments of Moses, Elijah, and Jesus, we see so many parallels between the Old and New Testaments. Tim and Joe discuss two specific mountaintop moments in Jesus' life: His temptation in the desert and His personal rhythm of getting away with the Father.
God uses everyday, on-the-street people, and He's intentionally inviting us to participate in His work in the world. Even Moses felt unqualified when God first called him, but God worked through his weakness to bring freedom to Israel.
In this episode, Pastor Andrea and Pastor Peter discuss what it means to cultivate a willing heart and offer the ordinary in our lives to God.
What's God prompting you to offer up or do today to participate in His work?
Just like His invitation to the children of Israel in Exodus, God is still calling His people to trust and draw near to Him today. Is fear holding you back from accepting His invitation?
In this episode, Pastors Tim and Peter discuss Moses' intimate experiences with the Lord on seven mountaintop moments. God's desire is to continue forming us more and more into His likeness. Will we draw near and accept the invitation to become more like Him in His presence?
How do we handle Scripture that seems jarring or confusing? In this episode, Pastors Tim and Peter discuss Moses' journey to the mountain and a strange passage of Scripture: Exodus 4:24-26.
In the beginning of Moses' story, he's pulled between two worlds: Hebrew and Egyptian. Like Moses, we may also feel caught between two worlds today. Have we fully committed to live in covenant with God? Or are we still giving in to the fleeting promises of this world?
Listen now as Tim and Peter explore ideas from Sunday's message and share more context from this part of Moses' story.
Pastors Dave, Tim, and Derry discuss Sunday's message on Joseph as a portrait of Jesus.
Pastors Derry and Tim discuss the application of Sunday's message on the series of conflicts surrounding Jacob and Esau and the false hope of entitlement.
Pastors Derry, Tim, and Don reflect on Pastor Dave's message from Sunday on Isaac and Rebekah's upper and lower stories.
Pastors Dave, Derry and Andrea discuss their take-aways from Sunday's message and God's provision.
In Week 2, Pastors Dave, Derry, and Tim reflect on what happens when we want to be in control and either operate in the flesh or fail to wait on God’s timing.
Digging Deeper is back!
"Here We Go Again" is our fall study where we will journey through a cycle found in the Old Testament of God making COVENANT with his people, CONFLICT arising as the people sin, and then the people encountering a redemptive move of God which consistently has clear foreshadowing of CHRIST. In the series, we will dive into some heavy theology and cover a lot of scriptural ground. There is so much more we could get into than our short message time on Sunday can cover, and it is imperative that we take the content of the message and make it personal. So, every week, several from our teaching team and staff will sit down after the message to “Dig a Little Deeper” and reflect on the personal application.
In Week 1, Pastors Derry, Tim and Don engage in a conversation on the power of covenant and the limitations we put on understanding who God truly is.
In this final installment of Digging Deeper in connection to the Unleashed sermon series, Pastor Derry shares five ways you can continue to live Unleashed.

"Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ." Ephesians 4:11-13 New Living Translation (NLT)
This week we hear from three of our NMC staff about what they do here, why they do it, and how they are seeing the Church Unleashed in their areas of ministry. Thanks to Janelle Prenkert, Pastor Terry Bley, and Niel Diener for sharing.
