One of the most encouraging and fortifying truths of Christianity is that God is sovereign. He has the power and right to do as he pleases. A right understanding of that doctrine has strengthened Christians for centuries and fueled some of the most risk-taking, global mission ventures in history. A wrong understanding of that doctrine has led to apathy, arrogance, and even abuse. We have to get it right! Paul gives us some “Rules of Engagement” in Romans 9.
