DIY At Home Salon Quality Blowout
I’ve owned my Dyson Airwrap Styler for about 2 years now. I’ve used it on my past super short pixie haircut as well as my now grown out long bob hair style and I LOVE IT. I know my husband was not too keen on me spending over $500 on a hair tool, but I now can say that it was worth every penny and I can prove it.

Dyson Airwrap Styler Tips
With some practice, I’ve learned how to use the styler to make my hair look like I got a salon blowout each time I use it. When you look at the prices of blowouts, the tool cost is minimal if you pay to have your hair regularly blown out at a salon. I also waited to purchase my styler until Sephora had a 20% off sale, which was helpful with the overall cost of the tool.
Before An At-Home DIY Blowout
I also own the Revlon One Step Hair Dryer, and to be honest, I love my Dyson Airwrap Styler better. While the Revlon is a good inexpensive buy, it’s not quite the same quality nor does it have the same styling options. The Dyson is also more lightweight, which is very helpful for anyone that has arthritis or joint issues.

After the Best At-Home Blowout
If the Dyson is ever in your budget and you like to have hair that keeps a blow-out style for days, then I’d go with that tool. Now, keep in mind that every single person has different hair and it will style a bit differently. My hair is thick, color treated, and wavy and it works great.
I also tested out the tool on my mom’s longer, fine hair, and it worked great too. My curls from the Dyson Airwrap Styler last longer than hers, but that is due to our very different hair types.
Using Olaplex No. 6 to Help Frizz
Despite everyone’s hair being different, I think the DIY at-home salon blowout method I use with my Airwrap Styler may be great for other’s too, so here’s how I do it.
I start out by applying a pea-sized amount of Olaplex No. 6 all over my hair. I work it through all my strands with my fingers. You may need to use more or less, depending on your hair thickness and length.

I then use the Dyson Airwrap Styler blow dryer attachment to dry my hair until it is DAMP. I use the high heat setting due to my hair being thick, but if you have finer hair, you could use a lower heat setting.

Using the Dyson Airwrap Styler Round Brush
I then use the round brush attachment to dry my roots on high heat. This adds volume to my style and dries the roots quicker.
How to Use the Airwrap Styler Curling Barrel
My Dyson Airwrap Styler came with many other tools. My favorite attachment to use for bouncy, wavy, voluminous hair that lasts for about 3 days is the 1.2 inch barrel. I use one of the barrels to curl my hair away from my face on one side of my head, then I use the other (the barrels are directional in the way they “pull” your hair around the tool using air) to curl the other side of my hair. I use a high heat setting to curl, then use the cool air function to cool the curl before letting it slide off the barrel.

Best Anti-Frizz Hydrating Treatment
If your hair dries out too much and isn’t curling as well towards the end of your styling, use a light misting water bottle to re-wet any dry hair pieces. I have to do this sometimes and my dry hair instantly curls when I re-wet it. I also use this trick if I am refreshing my waves on day two or three of my blowout.
When I’m done curling my hair, I apply a dime sized amount of Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream to my hands and gently massage it into my hair. It makes my hair stay shiny and hydrated. I use this to refresh my style in between my shampoos as well.
How to Make a Blowout Last
I like to use a dry shampoo to add some more volume to my roots and to make the blowout last. I usually can make my blowout last about 3 days. Some hair types may be able to make the blowout last longer and some may have a shorter blowout results. It really depends on weather, your workouts (how much you sweat), and your overall hair type.
I sleep with my hair loose on a satin pillowcase. I have found that this does help my hair not be so crazy looking when I wake up, making it easier to refresh and style.
At Home Blowout Tips
I sometimes can make my hair last four days, but usually by then the dry shampoo builds up on my scalp and on my hair strands, so I have to pull my hair back into a loose messy bun style if I still don’t want to wash it yet. My scalp also starts to get itchy, and when this happens, it’s time to wash again!
While there are some Dyson Airwrap Styler dupes out on the market, I haven’t tried any of them, so I can’t speak to them being better or worse buys. I will say, though, I also own a Dyson hair dryer, the Dyson Corrale Straightener and several Dyson vacuums and have loved all their products. They are all pricey, but have lasted numerous years, making them worth the cost to me.
