Some people accuse that if Jesus didn't really stay dead it wasn't really a sacrifice—that if He knew He was going to rise again, there was nothing sacrificial about His death.

"Sacrifice" in the Old Testament was a covering, not a deprivation. It's not about loss, but rather about atonement. Jesus's sacrifice was that of standing in our place so our sins would be covered. So it was still a legitimate sacrifice.

Second, it's a matter of satisfying legal requirements and balancing the books, so to speak. The issue isn't loss but fulfillment.

Third, the Bible accepts the idea of substitutionary atonement: one for many. Since His death accomplished that, it was a legitimate sacrifice.
