Of all the symbols in the Bible, perhaps the one most commonly associated with Jesus is that of a shepherd. It makes sense— shepherds and sheep were a very common part of life at that time. In fact, throughout both the Old and New Testaments, the image of Jesus as the shepherd grows clearer and clearer.
