Zig Ziglar, the great entrepreneur, talked about the reasons people get promoted in their work. He said that only 15% of people are promoted because of their skills at work. You would think that the opposite would be true. It’s natural to think that the reason most people are promoted is because they’ve learned the skills. And so, because they’ve learned the skills, they get promoted. But Zig says no -- that only accounts for 15%. He said that 85% of people who get promoted at work get promoted because of their relational skills, not their technical skills. So much of your success in your life work hinges upon your people skills.
