Alexes M. Terry is the founder and lead Instructional Success Consultant with TwistED Teaching Educational Consulting. As a native of Los Angeles, her experiences growing up in a community and attending schools negatively affected by gang-violence, drug abuse, and poor teaching, inspired Alexes to enter the field of Education after receiving a graduate degree in History from Louisiana Tech University. A professional educator with 10 years of experience teaching, coaching, mentoring, and leading, Alexes realized that there was a severe deficit in Education when it came to quality mentorship programs and instructional support for classroom educators who work with students in urban schools and communities. A graduate of Texas A&M University, where she received a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, with an emphasis in Urban Education, Alexes decided that it was time to stop talking about transforming teaching and learning in urban schools and begin doing her part by partnering with teachers and schools in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and throughout the state of Texas. Through workshops, professional developments and, most importantly, teacher mentoring, Alexes uses the theories of Culturally Responsive Teaching, Reality Pedagogy, and Data Driven Instruction to support educators in their journey to transform urban classrooms and schools. Her teaching style is based on years of researching pedagogical approaches, strategies and best practices most effective to meeting the needs of a diverse student population. She uses her educational background and professional experiences to support educators in creating a unique learning environment and opportunities for learning that are hands-on, engaging, relevant, and standard-based. Alexes M. Terry believes that coaching teachers to success is more than just a profession or a passion, it is her ministry. Through TwistED Teaching, her overall goal is changing the lives of students through one empowered teacher and classroom at a time.
