From New York, the greatest city in the world, it's The Update with Brandon Julien! Today's road stop takes us to Park Avenue South between 28th and 34th Streets. These streets have been opened up to let pedestrians walk and exercise while practicing social distancing. Some stories talked about on today's show were: 1. President Trump and elected leaders in New York are clashing again over the depth of the state's coronavirus crisis. Trump says he doubts predictions the metropolitan New York City area will need as many as 30,000 breathing machines to treat the ill. Mayor Bill de Blasio says the need is real. 2. Officials say a New York City subway driver was killed and several other people were injured early Friday in a fire on a train that is being investigated as a crime. Police said fires were reported at three other stations nearby at the same time. The fire killed a motorman who was helping passengers to safety. 3. A person familiar with the agreement tells The Associated Press that Major League Baseball players have agreed to a deal that would preserve service time if the season is canceled because of the coronavirus. The agreement between MLB and the union gives management the right to cut the amateur draft in both 2020 and 2021.
