A slow summer episode in the heat!
Matt is upset with his job and the government, but still relaxed from the sauna.
This episode Maddie and Matt discuss student loan debt, personal relationships and how they'd like to leave them. A lot of talk about about life and a little talk about finance this episode We hope you enjoyed it and we'll be back soon with a new episode. We love you.
Musk or Zuck? Whose side are you on in the big showdown? Taking bets on fights, crypto evaluations and the market. Is the crypto winter thawing or is the dead cat just bouncing?
Matt and Maddie catch up on the crypto crimes (alleged charges and fines), the PGA merger with “they who shall not be named, and the concept of “can anything be bought.” It’s been a minute and we apologize. Busy summers and travel got in way as maddie says hi from Dubai and Matt has shows on shows.
Hold My Bread is back Slices! After a hiatus, Matt and Maddie talk about their run-ins with the law, NBA finals and debt-ceiling updates.
With consent, Chat GPT gave an interview to Hold My Bread. They’re up’s and downs but mostly a lack of feeling, as a human mind might expect from AI. It does matter what you ask. Matt and Maddie had different approaches. Matt focused on the philosophical and Maddie the practical. Wait, did Chat GPT write this??
Alright slices, we have consent from ChatGBT for an interview next week. Send us your questions for ChatGBT - financial advice, dreams, friends, love - whatever. In prep for next week’s interview, Maddie and Matt discuss the ethics of AI and how guardrails can support technology in society. Spread out and listen in Slices
Who knew that Matt’s credit card debt and the USA debt ceiling have something in common? No one Slices, until this weeks lively discussion. Maddie still worries about the fate of the world while Matt only sees the upside (except for how interest compounds)
Who knew that Matt’s credit card debt and the USA debt ceiling have something in common? No one Slices, until this weeks lively discussion. Maddie still worries about the fate of the world while Matt only sees the upside (except for how interest compounds).
What we learned is what happens to Matt in Minneapolis, gets debriefed on the podcast, slices. Maddie shares frustrations the world is falling apart and hopes you all can relate. For finance news, we talk about how red envelopes were laughed at for a $50M valuation (those Blockbuster lame-os) and now worth billions. Keep innovating. Period.
So FedNow, will it be your new go-to app? No, it won’t. Matt and Maddie talk about what FedNow actually means for our listeners, aka our Slices Slices in Minnesota go check out Matt this weekend at…mall of America?
A somewhat meandering episode about travel, gambling and hobbies. Matt recounts a date. Maddie shares a story of Nigeria. Things get heated unexpectedly at the end when discussing the Starbucks wallet. Hint - don’t use it, unless you want more Carmel macchiatos with three pumps sugar free whatever (that doesn’t even count as coffee, it’s a cocktail at this point)
Things are falling fast - the meta verse, Donald Trump and our HMB NCAA brackets . China and Brazil are getting closer. What does this all mean? We share some thoughts, ideas and Matt brings China to its knees (whatever that means).
A world with no Tik tok and no President Trump behind bars? A dream or delusion? Matt and Maddie meander their way through the future and talk about uncertainty ,
Are you panicking? We are watching with bated breath. HMB this jumps on the bandwagon of bank runs, except only for discussion purposes Maddie and Matt talk about what a bank run is, why it matters and how to keep your money safe (luckily: all accounts at registered financial institutions are FDIC insured). For funsies, join the HMB March Madness Bracket below and maybe win some free merch... or something.... we haven't decided yet.

Are we out of the woods of an economic recession? Today Maddie and Matt explore ways to make wiser investments. Matt has good ideas on Vix fund (UVXY). Are there upsides and downsides to saving versus buying in downturn? Regardless, Hold My Bread will be there to get us through and digest the economy.
The article we referenced https://www.forbes.com/sites/jonathanponciano/2023/02/27/stock-market-at-critical-level-and-braced-for-high-risk-of-collapse-in-march-heres-what-investors-should-know/ (AGAIN THIS IS NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE)
Super Bowl bets settled. Manis on Matt. Maddie’s Chiefs are World Champions. Money can’t buy out love at HMB. Happy Belated Valentines Day to all our Bread Lovers. Although we at HMB don’t support the commercial declaration of love for the holiday, we do believe in telling people how you feel and being honest. So in this episode, Matt and Maddie explore finding love and if “putting money into the pursuit” has a positive effect.
Episode - HMB Inaugural Super Bowl Maddie and Matt have broken up. See Maddie is a major Chiefs fan and Matt has decided to cheer for the Eagles, for the sake of his home life. They made bets on the Super Bowl and have decide to suspend their relationship. But only until next Monday. We take sports seriously. May the best team win. This week was LITE on finance as we show you our diverse interests. Sometimes other things in life are more important
This weeks episode starts with a venture into Tulsa and meanders about to the Super Bowl, Matt’s recent fame and an update on inflation. Lots of laughs on this episode that reminded Maddie sometimes you need a break from the serious
This weeks topic majorly affects our financial choices but not always at the forefront of our mind - reproduction. Matt and Maddie delve into where they are with reproduction- sperm measuring and egg freezing respectively. How are we expected to make a decision that impacts the rest of our life now? What if we have spent an entire adulthood avoiding procreation only to want it when it’s no longer possible? Basically we go Patreon deep on a regular show. Listen and support - thank you!!
Winning and losing money - that’s what Maddie and Matt explore today. Matt coming out on top in litigation. Bank of America customers having money disappear by Zelle. Signing off until 2023 so happy holidays and see ya in the next year! We love our HMB listeners.
Back together again IRLand Accountability is the theme of our discussion this week. Who is responsible (beyond Sam Bankman-Fried) for the collapse of FTX? His parents? His board? Regulators? Is he a criminal mastermind or just dumb? Luckily we at HMB keep each other in check even virtually. Follow the Patreon and next week, get ready for goal setting
A late night for Matt and early morning for Maddie transformed this episode about bleak winter prosperities and holiday spending. This is looking more and more like “Fimbulwinter “(https://www.alehorn.com/blogs/alehorn-viking-blog/fimbulwinter-and-the-end-of-the-world), the endless winter that, in Norse mythology, precedes the end of the world — in this case the crypto world. They explore how to make holiday gifts meaningful with limited budgets. No matter how awful they’re itching for a holiday smile and a little LOVE
Patreon.com/HoldMyBread
How do democracy and money relate? This is the question Matt and Maddie explore on this early morning recording. Global events matter to us wherever we are and they affect our money. Hint - Matt’s not a morning person and wakes up through out the episode, Can Maddie convince Matt to sell doge coin before the crypto winter really ices him out. thank you for listening and don't forget to check out our Patreon. This week the team actually tackles how to hold on to our bread upon what feels like the threat of a economic downturn. Wait are we already there? Matt celebrates a HUGE victory and well, Maddie is just tired. Our dynamic duo talks Halloween and cancelling Ye.
Matt and Maddie sit down much later to record than normal and wow, they go deep - personal experiences at Catholic school, systemic racism and on a lighter note - celebrating those dedicated to their passion . Some shockers are revealed throughout the episode- one of our hosts read the obituaries from a young age for entrepreneurial reasons (and who it was may shock you) Both Matt and Maddie talk about how to uplift voices less privileged than than own.
Finally - Hold My Bread is up for the week - after Maddie set them back technically speaking. Top of mind financial crisis - budgeting. Maybe that’s why the episode is delayed- neither Matt nor Maddie adheres to a strict budget. They share tips and tricks with a little something for everyone. Matt never looks at his bank account while Maddie checks her’s almost daily. What’s so wonderful there?
Episode starts with Maddie paying a debt to Matt before delving into the recession teetering economy. Luckily for Matt things are on the up and up with winning bets and a rebounding British Pound. Neither one of us paid a $1.26M fine to the SEC either like Kim K. So winning week overall
Matt and Maddie talk about Britain and how the devaluation of the pound impacts Matt directly (see ya later British tourist and tips!) why is the Dollar so strong? And why is it so easy for the Silicon Valley Boys Club to keep getting funded?

On this week's episode we talk about why we're actually glad the market tanked, invest in $DKNG & debate who had the better week Twitter or Tesla. PLUS we go through corporate responses to BLM and round up the good, bad & ugly.
This weeks episode is one of our favorites. The main focus this week is spotlighting some of the companies that have filed for Bankruptcy within the last few months and what that looks like. We dive into what chapter 11 bankruptcy is and what it means for some of the oldest american companies in U.S. We try to give perspective on what it means to file bankruptcy and how some of the companies filing have been around since the 1900's and went from Billions of dollars in profits to store closings nationwide.
This episode is great and if you've been waiting to check out the podcast this is a great episode to get in.
Before a great interview with Andrew the boys discuss some store closings, a pizza scam we can all support, Matt comes in REAL hot and Joel is very strong.
Andrew is a great guest and an even better comedic story teller who hosts his own podcast (puddles) and opens for Nikki glaser among so many other things.
Andrew talks about his experience of selling real estate in his early 20's and all the money he made, was going to make, and may or may not have lost.
