Today we talk about getting goodness for ourselves, not from out side sources. In case you didn't know, Epictetus was a Stoic who was prominent in the early second century B.C./C.E. (which was about four hundred years after Zeno.) Our understanding of his knowledge, philosophy and methods as a teacher comes to us from the Discourses and the Handbook.
