Throughout the OT the focus is almost entirely on the nation of Israel. As a result of God’s choice of them, the Jews developed a belief that His will for them demanded that they remain aloof from all those outside of Judaism. Centuries of this made it necessary for the Lord to take drastic steps with the gospel beginning with a centurion named Cornelius. Standing between him and salvation was a massive wall of Jewish prejudice that needed to be torn down.
