In part 1 of my tackling the well-meaning but muddy waters of Free Coaching, I had my Negative Nancy hat on and looked at all of the ways the free session can be bad for your coaching practice. Too many great coaches give their good time to bad coaching sessions, leading to dead-end client leads. But worry not. There are two sides to every podcast story (at least to this one), and so let's discuss how to be generous with your coaching time in a way that will benefit you and those 'freebie taster' participants. Is there a way to do it right? Is it even possible?

On today's second part of the Free Coaching topic, I want to focus on what the free session can do for you and your business if you do it right. I explain my method of exploring a potential client's needs before deciding if I should work with them - if they and I are a good fit. I discuss the benefits of using a deliverable tool such as a 'Challenge' where you can deliver on a target in a short period to more than one client at a time. I also explain why having your client acquisition processes set up correctly should mean the pressure is off you when you set up a coaching deliverable because you don't need that client anyway. When you get it right, you should only be serving who you're meant to serve.

"If you want to do laser coaching sessions, what is a promise that you can make and deliver on in that period of time?" - Jos Willard

"Now, if you've done a good job with the deliverable and they like how you show up, they're the kind of person that you should be working with. You can get them that single biggest result that they're looking for. They won't mind the sales pitch" – Jos Willard

"You deliver. You deliver in a way that shows who you are. That positions you as an authority in your space" – Jos Willard

"You don't have to have written the book. You just have to be an authority in your space" – Jos Willard

"What's the promise that you're making? Did you get the right person in the room? Are they an ideal client? The kind of person that you do your very best work with?" – Jos Willard
