In the third episode of The ‘Business is Booming’ Project, we welcome Dr. Raymond Spencer. Spencer left his home city of Adelaide at 18 on a ship to the United States with $300 in his pocket and returned in 2009, having been the CEO and founder of Kanbay, a tech firm based in India, from its inception in 1989 through to its IPO on the NASDAQ in 2004, and eventually its acquisition by Capgemini for $1.7 billion in 2007. This episode explores the role spending twenty years in the not-for-profit sector has had on Spencer’s experience in the for-profit sector, the principles of starting and growing a business, creating purpose, dealing with mistakes, getting the most out of people, and the role venture capital plays in today’s business environment.
