Listen in to my conversation with Ashley Anderson, where she talks about sharing her story at the Moth Story Slam, and we discuss her love of sharks and the importance of connection. A gifted storyteller, Ashley believes story is what connects all of us - regardless of age, gender, race, or socioeconomic status.
In a time where division is rampant, Ashley's story centers around what unites us and emphasizes that friendship, across all our differences, is worth it.
Ashley Anderson left the California coast (and amazing weather and tacos) to go to graduate school in Washington DC in 2012. After finishing her MA in Lingustics at Gallaudet University, the only university for the Deaf in the world, she began working as an American Sign Language Interpreter. Her career has taken her on a journey from interpreting at military summits to refugee camps in Europe and the Middle East, to working in the local church. In her free time, she enjoys catching up with friends from around the world, being in nature, and eating sub-par East coast tacos.
