Meet Akelia Campbell @sicklecellpatientcare  Growing up feeling very self-conscious about my illness often resulted in there being this great mystery surrounding my health. After years of shutting myself off from the world, I finally mustered up the courage to speak my truth. It all started by simply wanting to share more information on Sickle Cell Disease itself, however, it slowly turned into a beast of its own. Nowadays, I tend to share my personal life experiences while focusing on creating a community and bringing awareness to this very common yet rarely spoken about illness.
