In this episode we talk Kathy & Dan, a retired couple in their 70’s who raised a multiracial family. Knowing they had a lot of love to give, they adopted four children, two being different races than themselves. Hear how that dynamic presented challenges over the years and how they dealt with them, as well as, what they learned along the journey.
Simply by placing a sign in their yard within a conservative community was a powerful action they took while quarantined to ensure they were voices of change and leaders for change during this time. Their sign read:
We Believe Black Lives Matter Love Is Love Feminism Is For Everyone No Human Being Is Illegal Science Is Real Be Kind To All
Their message is to vote, stay informed, and participate in local elections as passionately as the presidential elections. Local elections change communities and impact local communities greatly, therefore voting is the ultimate form of protest if you want change.
Questions to Consider: What small step can you take to be a voice for change in your community? What resonates most with you? Who else will you share this with?`
