Its been a while but we are back and better. 50% better in fact, as we are joined by Andy, our good friend and potential trialist for the Links Effect.

In this episode, we stay loosely golf based (barely), but examine the reaction to the recent movement of top sports stars to consider their mental health, such as Simone Biles, Naomi Osaka and Ben Stokes. A complex issue, but one that certainly merits discussion and has undoubtedly furthered the awareness of mental health in sport.

The boys (virtually) get together to launch 2021. The boys had a fair old bit to talk about, so this is part 1. In this (award winning) version of R&R, the boys tackle the latest virus restrictions, coping mechanisms and Rod talks about his 100 failure (or not)?.

In part 2 and 3 we cover the Justin Thomas incident and social media response, and in part 3 we talk about how seriously we should take data in golf.

As always, feel free to find us on twitter and instagram (linkseffect), or drop us an email at rod@roadto246.com.

Hi guys

This week we have a very special guest in Eilidh Barbour. Eilidh is a Scottish TV presenter who has presented on both BBC (Football Focus, Final Score and the Women's World Cup), Amazon, Sky and in 2017 became the BBC Golf Anchor, taking over from Hazel Irvine.

We talk about her love of golf, mental health in the context of her career and some of the challenges she has faced. Oh, and this was a surprise for Rod, who had no idea who was coming on the pod.

Fantastic stuff and thanks so much for coming on the pod Eilidh.

If you want to get in touch you can find us on Instagram (@thelinkseffect), Twitter and on email. Get in touch!

It is still uncertain in the world today; hopefully you do get a chance to get out on the links!!

Hi all

As promised (although a little late), in episode 2 our extended R&R features includes an interview with Kev Waite.

Kev is the Founder and owner of Move Mind & Body, a Personal Trainer & Yoga Teacher and Mental health speaker & campaigner. Kev was kind enough to give us a view of his experiences with Bipolar type 2 from a first person perspective, how he manages the condition and the state of mental health and education today in the UK. It was an amazing insight and we hope you enjoy.

Thanks Kev for all your time! For more information:

p.s - Note that the boys do discuss some distressing themes, such as suicide, so please be aware.

Hi guys

Hope you are doing well during the crisis. This week we welcomed our first guest on the pod! It was so good that we have split this week into two parts.

The first part is the usual waffle from the boys - Rob has started bullet journal, Rod has weighed himself and Rob talks us through his first major media event with Colin Montgomerie.

The second half will be out soon, where we speak to Kev Waite (https://www.movemindandbody.co.uk/about-me). Kev is a personal & yoga trainer, and Mental health campaigner and speaker. One of the very best conversations that both Rob and I had about mental health as Kev takes us through his experience of living with Bipolar Disorder (type 2) and some of his views on the perception in the UK today.

But for now, enjoy this little starter.

Hi guys

Long one for your earholes. Rod and Rob reflect on the first part of the COVID-19 crisis (having nearly ended up stuck in Dublin), the lads continue the Award Winning* R&R feature and talk about the impact COVID-19 on themselves and society. They also sneaked in a quick chat about the compressed PGA tour, which is shaping up to be an absolute barnstorm later in the year.

We are going to move to a weekly podcast schedule for the foreseeable.

Oh and apologies for the recording quality. Rod was in his bedroom on a 2 second delay.

Go well!

*not necessarily confirmed.

Oh, and there are trains. Seriously.

Keep the comms coming in on insta and twitter!
