A Better Way In

Hebrews 9:1–14

Bottom Line: A beautiful barrier is no match for Christ’s open door.

Introduction: A Grand Cathedral

  • “What’s stopping you from stepping fully into God’s presence?”
  • The Beautiful Barrier (Hebrews 9:1–10)
  • Beauty that was only a shadow.
  • The message: You Can’t Come In!
  • Where do you feel locked out—near religion, but not near God?
  • A Temporary Way (Hebrews 9:7; Leviticus 16–17)
  • The annual reset – Day of Atonement.
  • Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
  • You are not saved by better performance.

III. The Better Way In - Jesus (Hebrews 9:11–14)

  1. The greater tabernacle: God with us!
  2. The better sacrifice: cleansing the conscience
  3. Rest in Jesus’ finished work.

Conclusion / Call to Action

  • Set aside 15 minutes this week to write down the barriers you feel are keeping you from God.
  • Pray for Christ’s help to overcome them.
  • Help will come from the Bible and Christian friends.
