Be Grateful. Thankful. Appreciative. Glad with what you have. Happy about good things in the world.

Go further - as Christians, we can feel thankful for God for all we have. Jesus died for our sins! God created the world! We have food and shelter and people who love us!

This is not actually something to do, like being generous is something you do. Being grateful is a state of mind. It is in your heart. You can respond by doing something nice for the person you are grateful for, like for God you would pray and tell him all about the things you are grateful for. But today’s episode is really just focussing on the state of your heart when you are grateful.

Bible Passage: Philippians 4:11-12

“I have learned to be satisfied with whatever I have. I know what it is to be poor or to have plenty, and I have lived under all kinds of conditions.”

Whether you are rich or poor, young or old, sick or healthy, there are always things we can feel grateful for. We can actually be grateful for our situation, whether it is good or bad.

Bible Passage: 1 Thessalonians 5:18

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

Story Time!

Corrie Ten Boom hid Jews from the Nazis in Germany and ended up being arrested and put in a concentration camp. Her sister Betsie (Not Bessie - sorry!) beautifully insisted that they thank God for everything, even the fleas.

1. What are some of the things that you feel grateful about?
2. What are some ways that you can remind yourself to feel grateful about these things every day? If you do a search online or on Pinterest on gratitude, it will come up with many helpful tips and tricks and information too, on how helpful it is for your brain!
