The dramatic moment police chase down and arrest two men suspected of carrying out a brutal and “cowardly” attack on a 65-year-old Salvation Army volunteer outside his Hamilton Hill home has been caught on camera.

Good Samaritan Christopher Hands was found laying on the ground covered in blood on Sunday evening by emergency services who had been dispatched to the Jindalee retirement village following reports of a disturbance a few minutes before.

The body-worn camera footage shows officers arresting one man in a vehicle, while another officer and police dog Digga chase down another male.

In the footage, you can hear an officer yell out that he will deploy the dog. It then shows the man being arrested.
