Yesterday marked the 80th anniversary of the birth of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali.

Tonight we will celebrate the life of Muhammad Ali and I cannot think of a better guest to discuss the greatest Heavyweight champion of all time than esteemed journalist and sports author Jonathan Eig. Jon hales from Chicago and, starting in the mid-1980s, he has worked as a journalist for the New Orleans Times-Picayune, the Dallas Morning News, Chicago Magazine, and the Wall Street Journal.

In 2005 he published his first book The Luckiest Man: the life and death of Lou Gehrig which earned critical acclaim and won the Casey Award for the best baseball book released in 2005.

Since then he has released four more critically acclaimed books dealing with Jackie Robinson, Al Capone, the birth of the Pill, and his most recent book a biography of Muhammad Ali.
