Ted is an unreliable narrator, but he's also kind of a jerk in a lot of his own stories. There's a popular fan theory that Barney's behavior has been significantly exaggerated by Future!Ted to make himself look less terrible. I mean ... he admits to trafficking a woman? Yikes! How much of this is true, and how much is Ted just telling a story? From Barney's POV, the story might go very differently. Could we trust him though?
