Too often we sensationalize and glorify rebellion. We want a hero to win against insurmountable odds because that's how we view life. We want to win at life. But day after day goes by with little adventure and more of the same, so we root for the guy that defies the odds, that defies the authority that must be up to something bad - even if we have no real proof of wrongdoing, or, the wrongdoing is simply living the same life we are.

Jesus is often mentioned as a rebel, though in fact, he was a bringer of truth. He sought to illuminate the misperceptions of the law that the Pharisees were trying to force people to live under, seeking to show them that what God wanted was to bring God's kingdom on earth, rather than to raise up a worldly kingdom that would never last.

Jesus wanted us to serve others above ourselves, and to put our selfish ways on the back burner. When we choose to ignore God's will, we quickly find ourselves in Rebellion.
