• Germany has decided to hold talks with other EU member countries about the European Union's decision to impose tariffs on USA goods worth $4 billion in retaliation against subsidies for American plane-maker Boeing. The move is being seen as a retaliatory measure against the USA imposing 15% tariffs on Airbus aircraft and 25% levies on European exports, including French wine, Scotch whisky, and Spanish olives last year.
• Japan continues to increase its dependency on hydrogen as an alternate form of fuel to create a more sustainable energy plan. Experts believe that hydrogen energy will reach the $11 trillion market cap very soon. Tokyo plans to source grey type liquid hydrogen imported from Australia raising concerns that the Tokyo-Canberra partnership may prove environmentally disastrous.
• The UAE's Hope Probe, a project complementing the Emirates Mars Mission (EMM), has completed 60% of its journey. The EMM recently announced that the Emirati shuttle completed its third and last major trajectory correction maneuver successfully, traveling over 290 million kilometers, and is expected to enter Mars' orbit on February 9, next year.
