Do you have important things to say but donβt know how to deliver? Come join me on the Intersection Tutorial
The Intersection Tutorial: Public Speaking β Dramatic Reading, Prepare like a Professional Actor
This is the first communication tutorial that I will produce each month for my listeners.
As queer PoC who has worked as an:
πIvy League performance,
π£π©π»βπ€public speaking,
π°and rhetoric professor
πΆand classical vocalist,
I have studied and taught phrasing and stress patterns.
To hundreds of students and clients of color and non-native English speakers. π§π½βπ€π¨πΎβπ€π§π»βππ©π½βππ§π½
In this lesson, you learn how to prepare for different speeches and presentations through the art of dramatic reading or oral interpretation. Where you figure out:
π What are the most important words? What is the flow of words? What are the stresses? What is the emotion?
π How to speak to your audience in a way that feels authentic to you and who you are
π How to present content at the level as an expert in your field and the sensitivity and acumen of a professional actor and speaker
I read from two very different texts and then analyze the content itself and why I made certain decisions in my delivery.
I do this both by analyzing the argument of the speakers themselves and the language itself.
