Bass Matthew Thomas is a graduate of the ANU School of Music and the Opera School of the Sydney Conservatorium.

As a soloist Matthew has been engaged by companies including Melbourne Opera, Opera Australia, Opera Queensland, Victorian Opera, Opera Australia and Tokyo Experimental Opera.

On the concert platform he has appeared with Sydney Philharmonic Choirs, The Arcko Symphonic Project, Melbourne Bach Choir, Canberra Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Opera and the Ho Chi Minh Symphony.

From 2009 to 2012 he was a member of the Melbourne-based vocal ensemble Aria Co and performing with them as part of the art-music cabaret programs at venues including the Sydney Opera House and Melbourne Recital Centre.

He has been a finalist in numerous national singing competitions most recently being the 2013 Acclaim Awards which enabled him to undertake intensive studies and performances in Italy, firstly in Jesi and secondly at the Accademia Teatro alla Scala, in Milan.

In 2005 in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the cultural industries he was the ACT recipient of the Young Australian of the Year Award.
