Within a week of the break up with her captor, Brandi texted Shawn to reconcile what happened 3 years prior. She wanted him to see and know that things had really changed and he played a big role. Shawn very prayerfully and carefully accepted the invitation to come visit her. That visit was very pivotal in that it began breaking down the barriers between them.

Both got busy with family things soon after and their communication lessened, but that wasn't the end….
