The Youth Pledge (Sumpah Pemuda) was a declaration made on 28 October 1928 by young Indonesian nationalists in the Second Youth Congress, whereby they vowed to recognize only one Indonesian, one Indonesian people, and one Indonesian language (Bahasa Indonesia). To this day, it is still considered a significant date in the Indonesian calendar, especially for the youth community.
