I decided to wait to post this for when the rush was through. Now, perhaps is a better time to listen and enjoy. In our fast paced world that also dose not like the Lamb of God, we ca loose sight of the eternal for the material or what we perceive. Don't loose sight of Who is going to outlast all of this.

we are starting a new study in the Book of Philippians. As the title shows, there is an episode before this that is in the process of editing. The recorder used and location had a negative effect and it's taking a bit of work to fix. However, I didn't want to wait on the next 2 perfectly fine messages. So, while I hope to get the 1st episode that serves as the introduction, I hope you are encouraged by what had followed. Steve Rutherford shares the Book of Philippians.

Editors note: I really needed this after my mind keeping me up that Sunday morning till 4 am. During this message I was reminded about my glasses. I need glasses for distance. Up close I'm fine, but I'm blurry with any distance without them. I shared with a friend that I wish loosing focus on God was as quickly noticeable and disliked as much as when I leve my physical glasses somewhere. Everything is out of focus and the strain sets in. I try hard not to leave my physical glasses, and I'm learning to guard my focus now too.

When you try to focus on God and obey Him, then the enemy will try to distract you, sometimes directly through others or situations directly or indirectly. Remember, stay focused,  quit leaving your glasses and focusing on the distractions. We have work to do. God is not done yet!

Jodie and his family were originally missionaries who were in Russia,  but while on ferlo they were informed that they couldn't return to Russia.  Amazingly,  God made a way through media. Even though they are here, they can help the churches in Russia and those interested in the Bible and in God.

They also started a ministry here state-side for Biblical Counciling for Pastor's,  Ministry Leaders,  and Missionaries, called Heartway Ministries.

Bro. Jodie also shares a devotional to encourage us that whatever comes in our life as a child of God, that it's purpose is to make us more like His Son and to open up opportunities to minister to others.

Jonathan in many ways shows us what a true friend is like and a healthy godly friendship. The editor speaking for a moment: I have a dear friend like this, who encourages me in the Lord and listens to me, and prays for me (and say hey don't be doing that  and other corrections. I tell you of all my friendships this one is the most cherished, why? Because Christ is the focus, center and goal. We see this kind of friend in Jonathan.

Christ says we can always come to Him just as we are. We don't fix ourselves by ourselves. We must allow Him to change us. He loves us and wants a relationship with us. So come to Him just as you are.

We thank God for our freedom, and the men and women who have given their all for our freedom. Thank God for these, and pray for their families and friends, and do not dishonor them by throwing away or abusing what they died to give us. Use what they died to give and preserve to do good and bring glory to God, and to provide a way to bless other nations and bring the Gospel to them. Salvation and Freedom are gifts to us, but they were not free to those Who paid the price. Thank you.

Now, please know we are not talking about hearing voices in your head. When you trust Christ as your personal Savior, He gives you His Holy Spirit. There times when God will impress on you to do something or He comforts you, gives direction and gives correction. Now in the Bible times, God did speak audibly. But for us, He speaks by His Spirit. Often He brings us to His Word.

We often look for big shows of God's might. We want the sea parted or some huge demonstration, but we neglect to just be still and know He's God... We look at the world and our lives and those close to us and it's overwhelming. We often pray for an outcome, but don't rust the One we're asking it of. I'm speaking from experience (the editor of this podcast). Recently I faced something and the worry was eating me alive. I couldn't concentrate and my emotions where all over the place. I prayed and prayed about it, and I know God heard me, but He had to straighten a few things out with me before He answered my prayer. The following morning God pointed out that I was trusting in what I could see, but not trusting Him. He pointed out that He had heard me, but I had more faith in what I could see and hear... I wasn't able before this to stop the worry, but when I trusted God with it, He gave me peace, strength and then helped me to excel in some areas that had nothing to do with the prayer. When doubt and worry try to creep up I remind it that God's got it, I don't need to worry about it. He will take care of me and others. By the way, as of right now, the problem hasn't changed. He may change it later. But regardless of what He does, I know He knows what is best and what He is doing. If He delivers, good, but if not He's still in control and know's what is best.

John 19:1-16
1 Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.

2 And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,

3 And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.

4 Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.

5 Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!

6 When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.

7 The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.

8 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;

9 And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.

10 Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?

11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.

12 And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar's friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar.

13 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.

14 And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!

15 But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.

16 Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.

John 19:17-42
17 And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:

18 Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.

19 And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was Jesus Of Nazareth The King Of The Jews.

20 This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin.

21 Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews.

22 Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.

23 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.

24 They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.

25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.

26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!

27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.

30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

32 Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.

33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:

34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

35 And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.

36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.

37 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

38 And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.

39 And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.

40 Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.

41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.

42 There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews' preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.

John 11:17-44

There are people who want to hear the Gospel of Christ and have open hearts to Christ. Sometimes you will be one to plant the seed, but maybe you won't see the fruit until years later or even until Heaven. Some People will water the seed that another planted. Then there are some that will see the person saved. Later as the Christian grows in their walk with the Lord, and they let the Spirit have control, not only can you see them plant the seed of the Gospel, but they will also have the Fruit of the Spirit(Galatians 5:22-23: Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering-patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness- not weakness, and temporace).

We must learn to look for where God is working and join Him. We get so focused on the work of the ministry that we really miss the point... Don't be distracted (Easy for me to do)with the physical and focused on self or so on what others want that we totally miss what God is doing. Focus on Christ. The Christian life is not about working, it's about Christ and our relationship with Him. He does love us and He loves the lost and the saved. We make our plains and expect God to bless it when we never went to Him in the first place. While we want our way to make numbers and trying to get people to like us.... but Christ is at work and has put us or moved us to where He is at work reaching the lost and encouraging the saved that just need love and encouragement.

Here were review John's ministry, and how he responded to Christ's ministry after his.

An overlooked part of John chapter 3. This is what this has been building to, like a crescendo in a piece of music. This is talking about salvation, and Jesus has already used new birth, comparing it to the Old Testament, it's a gift. But now He puts the ball in Nickademu' court. Jesus has explained it in general, now He brings it down to the personal level. You know what to do, but you have to act on it. No one else can make you trust Christ. You must make a conscious decision to put your trust in Christ alone to save you, not in good works + Christ. In Christ alone.

There's a big difference between us getting mad and acting out because we were offended or hurt, vs us getting angry over something that offends God.

Jesus was angry because of what they had done in His Father's house. They had a marketplace in the Temple and they controlled what people brought for offerings and things they where bringing for God, but they wanted to sell you what you give to God. They had made His House of Prayer and Worship into a house of business. They couldn't give their money, they had to exchange there money for the temple money. They had placed themselves between God and Man for their own gain. When someone puts themselves between God and those who want to follow him, He will get mad.

Note: He didn't destroy property or set the animals free, he overturns the tables and tell them to take those things out of My Father's House, don't make My Father's house a house of Merchandise! He had the authority and they obeyed. It was not a market place.

This was Prophesied in Malachi 3:1-3

Malachi 3 New King James Version (NKJV)
The Coming Messenger

3 “Behold, I send My messenger,
And he will prepare the way before Me.
And the Lord, whom you seek,
Will suddenly come to His temple,
Even the Messenger of the covenant,
In whom you delight.
Behold, He is coming,”
Says the Lord of hosts.

2 “But who can endure the day of His coming?
And who can stand when He appears?
For He is like a refiner’s fire
And like launderers’ soap.

3 He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver;
He will purify the sons of Levi,
And [a]purge them as gold and silver,
That they may offer to the Lord
An offering in righteousness.

Genesis 6

The word for Ark means a box or a chest. A box or chest used to store and transport goods. This word is only used 30 times in the OT. It's the same word used for the ark that Moses' mother made to put Moses in the bulrushes. Both were a means of protection from outside dangers, and in the case of the flood, it served to protect Noah and his family from the judgement of God.

So we are now 80 years from the Baby in the Basket. We now join Moses in the wilderness of Midian, in the middle of nowhere. He was leading his father-in-law's sheep and sees a burning bush on a mountain (Mt Sinai). God used this mountain in the middle of nowhere to be the meeting place with Moses, and it's here where God sends Moses back to Egypt. Who was in the fire of the burning bush? Moses was human like us. He asked God some good questions. How did God answer these questions while at the same time revealing more about Himself. Also, we find here what makes a good leader from these verses (and again through out Scripture). God had been waiting on his man along with His (God's) perfect timing.

Come along! Shoes not required!

Sometimes God allows our lives to become less comfortable, but it's for a good reason. Eagles stir up their nest, letting the twigs and thorns that had been covered before, to cause their children to leave the nest. Many times God will use situations (like these) to get us ready to leave where we've become comfortable, and join Him in a place He has been preparing for us. God prepares us for what He has in store for us. All of this is to bring Him glory, not just among Israel, but among all the nations, and from our world today.

We start our journey where we left off in Genesis... How things have changed!

If you've been in church or sat in a Vacation Bible School or in Sunday School, You have probably heard this story. In this study we go a little deeper than a 15 min overview of this account. God used a very wise and brave woman to save the life of a future leader, and she was rewarded for it. Lets look at how God protected, provided for, and Prepared His man.

In this episode, Anthony Phillips gives an introduction to our study in the Book of Exodus.
This is the 2nd Book of the Bible and of Moses 5 Books of the Law. This Book is about God Redeeming Israel and Making them into His Chosen Holy Nation.

We hope you will enjoy the journey and grow closer to God, and maybe have some questions answered.

No surprise back-feed in this episode. Feel free to listen with headphones or through speakers. No high volume though, we want you to be able to continue listening! We hope you enjoy and that you'll experience the victory God brings... even in long, ongoing, battles.

Ephesians 6:10-18
These are not just sweet words of comfort for us as we go through hard times. These are words of instruction to show us how to stand and how to continue doing what God has told you to do, even when you feel like a cloud of flaming arrows or a fierce fighting enemy is attacking you and those you love.

Let's make this more normal, maybe it's daily stuff that he gets you in.
So, how hard was it to come back or click the next episode? How many distractions did you notice even during the last episode? On this same topic, which these issues are common problems for all Christians, and nothing to be ashamed of, you just need to be wise to them. Have you ever noticed that when you go to pray that you get sleepy or you suddenly remember something that you have to do and poof you forget what you were praying about? Or you go to do the thing you remembered and don't have time to finish praying or the desire is just gone? Same with your Bible study, you sit down to read and suddenly you are hit with a fatigue that, if it where any other book, you wouldn't have otherwise. These are also attacks on us. Satan loves to keep us from growing and then make us feel guilty for falling for his deception.

This episode is an overview of the Armor of God and how we are to use it. Oh and it's not about going out and looking for a fight... No where does God say go out and attack others or kick the bear, so to speak. When you are minding your own business and doing the work of God, not forcing your will on others, the attacks are going to come because you are in line with God. It's His strength and His lordship(Authority) by which we can have victory. If it's in your own strength or authority and you just expect God to bless it because, "it's a good idea or it's for the right reason" be careful, seek God's will on the mater. When we operate under His authority and are following Him where He leads, then when the attacks come, we can have victory. Ask God what He wants and where. He takes care of the how.

A note from the Recording Editor:
If possible, please don't use headphones or high volume levels on this episode. There was a loud distraction. But I left it there because it's related to the subject and not just an accident. Please do listen though. Thank you and enjoy!

Ephesians 6:10-13
Have you ever noticed that when you try to follow Christ that things get very hard very quick? And you wounder, why? Why if I'm doing right am I being attacked or life is just going south! I know many of us have. When you follow God and do His will the enemy of God is going to be your enemy. Sometimes God punishes His children for sin, but He will bring that sin to your memory. When you are doing right, with the right motive, and you get attacked by life and by man, then you problem is the Devil, not them.

Satan is a master deceiver, and though he can't be everywhere at all times, he has demons who he commands, like a general with an army. The Devil fights with his armies against God and the Children of God. He uses life circumstances, your weaknesses, and other people to attack you, often when we are the most weak and worn out.

So, how do we fight an unseen enemy who uses others and distractions to keep you from seeing the real problem? We do not fight against flesh and blood, it's a spiritual battle. Victory comes from God. Please listen to all the Spiritual Warfare series as we go through the Armor of God and how God brings us victory when we face a battle moment by moment. Stay in the fight and stand in His strength.

1 Peter 5:6-7 - God cares for you!

v. 6 Humble yourself therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time: v. 7 Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.
1 Peter 5:6-7 KJV

It's not bad to be concerned about things, but how we handle these things can make it bad. We try to figure out how we (I) will handle it on our own. Instead of worrying and letting fear rule your life, we need to go to God with it. We don't have the power, in our own strength, so we need to depend on God. There are things in life that you can't do anything about. It brings us to a point where, instead of saying what am I going to do about this, We turn to God and ask how are you going to fix this. Don't ask it doubting that He can. But take your cares to Him, because He loves you and cares for you. Humble yourself under His hand. You're not strong enough. He is. It's not by your power. It's His power.
