Advance Your Career! Notes for Coaching and Leadership Practice

Hello I'm Brian Cooke.

This is Note # 23 on Success.

At one time or another we all experience moments of peak performance.

One big difference between great players and good ones, however, is their ability to play great over a longer duration.

Here are several keys to develop greater consistency and enjoy a long, successful career.

See the big picture. For better and worse, our conditioning and performance varies from day to day. While short-term results matter, remember the big picture. Learn each day from your experience. Emphasize consistency. Keep getting better at being the best version of you.

Be steady. Leaders and teams who excel under pressure tend to maintain a steady, self-confident pace. The journey to big achievements can be a wild and uncertain ride. Manage your energy and emotion sensibly. No high too high. No low too low!

Prepare to win. Practice and prepare the way you expect to compete. Excellence is a habit forged through daily choices and commitments. Unfortunately, so is mediocrity.

Play! Although sports today are big business, the championships that generate so much income are children’s games played by adult professionals. Live, work, and PLAY with great energy and enthusiasm!
