Abu Simbel is an ancient temple complex located east of Hurghada in the Nile River Valley. The complex was built by Pharaoh Thutmose III in 1550 BC and contains some of the most impressive carvings and statues of any ancient site. The site includes a series of stepped temples, including the Temple of Ramses II, which is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
