"We’ve got to be deep thinkers to grow deep thinkers."  Alison Teegarden, Director of Academics for the Bellevue Independent School District, reflects on how applying thinking strategies and metacognition in her classroom and life has profoundly changed her practices.  She makes a strong case for how much more powerful it is for ALL students to be engaged in their own thinking; crafting it, and being permitted to struggle through it.
