On Friday, my son’s school unexpectedly lost a much-loved man, Mr. Nolan, who worked for many years in the cafeteria. But he did so much more than simply serve mashed potatoes and pasta. He brought joy and grace to the lives of the students and faculty. Today’s sermon explores how being disciples of Christ calls us to recognize the God-given value of everyone and of everyone’s work. We are all, simply, children of the Almighty Creator.

The sermon is based on Philemon 1-21 and Luke 14:25-33. It was preached at Free Church of the Annunciation with a similar sermon preached at Mount Olivet Episcopal Church.
