Today we sit down with shaper, and WSL, ISA, & Olympic commentator, Ben Wei @benwei5050. Ben grew up as a child actor in North Hollywood but as soon as he tried surfing he fell in love and told his Mom they needed to move as close to the beach as possible. So they moved to Oceanside. At 13 he was a board salesman at Hobie (now Surfride) Boardshop which launched his career in surfing and skating. From Oceanside, Ben moves to Japan for 15 years and became the announcer for WSL Japan, and owned a surf shop in Japan. He has 30 years shaping experience with his specialty in boards made for aerials. And is Ben the inventor of the original Blackball board? Find out!
