Self Justification is the go to response when corrected for people who have narcissistic tendencies.  Since they cannot metabolize shame relationally and their need to feel special is driving them, deflection is key.  Self justification can come in many forms, everything from, "You'll never understand in a million years!" to, "How dare you question me!" to " God told me to do this."
