This episode is brought to you by LMNT! Spelled LMNT. What is LMNT? It’s a delicious, sugar-free electrolyte drink-mix. I tried this recently after hearing about it on another podcast, and since then, I’ve stocked up on boxes and boxes of this and usually use it 1–2 times per day. LMNT is a great alternative to other commercial recovery and performance drinks. As a coach or an athlete you will not find a better product that focuses on the essential electrolyte your body needs during competition. LMNT has become a staple in my own training and something we are excited to offer to our coaches and student-athletes as well. LMNT is used by Military Special Forces teams, Team USA weightlifting, At least 5 NFL teams, and more than half the NBA.

You can try it risk free. If you don’t like it, LMNT will give you your money back no questions asked. They have extremely low return rates. LMNT came up with a very special offer for you as a listener to this podcast. For a limited time, you can claim a free LMNT Sample Pack—you only cover the cost of shipping. For US customers, this means you can receive an 8-count sample pack for only $5. Simply go to DrinkLMNT.com/JustinClymoto claim your free 8-count sample pack.

[00:08:18] I had a lot of friends that had moved to California and they kept saying, you've got to move out here.

[00:09:34] I'd like to coach JV, build the fundamentals without all the pressure, not have to worry about rankings and fundraising and newspapers and parents, and just really build the fundamentals of a program.

[00:10:27] I decided that I wanted to become the Gary Dreher of softball. So, I would watch his practices and I would watch what he did

[00:13:43] One of the things that I really focus on is dealing with parents because that's a true love, hate relationship.

[00:17:29] I don't know if you've heard of Bruce Brown, but he does a lot of impact culture things.

[00:17:58] Respect the game; simple as work hard, play hard. Trust the process. Stay humble.

[00:19:03] You're co-designing your core values so that you have greater buy-in from the players.

[00:21:04] Teams with energy who like each other the most, win the most, talent aside.

[00:22:48] You've got to take care of the whole player and not just what's happening on the field, and not just the player on the field, you really do have to take into consideration what's happening off the field.

[00:29:06] She focuses on the little things, because if you focus on the little things, then the big things will happen.

[00:32:08] We need to help them process what's going on outside the gate. Because many of our players have been hurt by what's going on outside the gate.

[00:33:58] I would have given my players a voice earlier. And I think that's the biggest piece of advice. And also take more time for yourself.

[00:36:22] I think you have to be honest; you'd have to just lay it out there.
