This episode is brought to you by LMNT! Spelled LMNT. What is LMNT? It’s a delicious, sugar-free electrolyte drink-mix. I tried this recently after hearing about it on another podcast, and since then, I’ve stocked up on boxes and boxes of this and usually use it 1–2 times per day. LMNT is a great alternative to other commercial recovery and performance drinks. As a coach or an athlete you will not find a better product that focuses on the essential electrolyte your body needs during competition. LMNT has become a staple in my own training and something we are excited to offer to our coaches and student-athletes as well. LMNT is used by Military Special Forces teams, Team USA weightlifting, At least 5 NFL teams, and more than half the NBA.
You can try it risk free. If you don’t like it, LMNT will give you your money back no questions asked. They have extremely low return rates. LMNT came up with a very special offer for you as a listener to this podcast. For a limited time, you can claim a free LMNT Sample Pack—you only cover the cost of shipping. For US customers, this means you can receive an 8-count sample pack for only $5. Simply go to DrinkLMNT.com/JustinClymoto claim your free 8-count sample pack.
[00:03:45] It started off by me trying to get my goal, which is to get to the Olympics.
[00:04:24] I'm not going to take over no team. I'm not ready to do that.
[00:04:53] Once I got to Monterey High, I wanted to change the culture and make it a family.
[00:06:03] My coach was my family and you know what? I coached like that.
[00:06:36] Take care of your goals that you want. But don't forget about the program.
[00:06:56] We don't always get the best talent in the world. We have to make our talent. We have to put in so much time and I believe that's important.
[00:08:25] It's not about winning. It's about the journey.
[00:10:40] Our club is available. For anybody on the peninsula, anybody in the state, right? Because that's my job. As a national coach for California USA wrestling. I don't charge anybody for any of this. I can give that knowledge free
[00:13:32] I think the wrestling part was easy. That's easy. It was filling out paperwork. It was being a young adult. Was I ready to take the responsibility of somebody else, to be responsible for that student athlete?
[00:15:15] Technique beats everything.
[00:17:01] You have to be dedicated to your job, and you have to be honest with your athletes because your athletes could read you.
[00:21:39] I'm not one of those coaches like I said, I'm just set in one certain way. Can't do that because then I don't learn the kids don't learn now, wrestling is boring.
[00:23:06] That I have to adjust to the athlete; I have to because people react different. Everybody's different, and I have got so much better at recognizing.
[00:25:31] I can tell you that I had tried every sport before I tried wrestling.
[00:29:09] I had to learn myself to make sure my wrestlers are going to get better and believe in my philosophy.
[00:31:42] Always make yourself better every day. Teaching always challenge yourself every day as a coach, evaluate yourself as a coach.
[00:33:36] Any coach wants to call me or ask me about stuff, I think that's what we have to do is as coaches now is help the other coaches and we all be at one.
