What is the purpose of family history work? Is it just to gather names and dates? Professor Amy Harris, director of the Family History Program at BYU, believes that there is much more to it. Genealogical consciousness defines how we live our lives. It governs how we treat people around us: past, present, and future, and guides how we participate in family history work.
