When you love someone and you’re rejected, cheated on, or betrayed, it’s natural to want nothing to do with the offender ever again. It just hurt too much. God deeply loved His people, the nations of Israel and Judah, and wanted nothing more than to be in close fellowship with them forever. Yet, as Pastor John teaches today, God’s people rejected Him and cheated on Him with idols. It deeply grieved God’s heart! However, despite this betrayal, God still loved His people and was willing to forgive them if they’d return to Him.
