Matthew chapter 5 introduces the Sermon on the Mount with a series of verses known as the Beatitudes. Each verse starts with the word, “blessed” which means “happy.” The Beatitudes describe eight-character qualities and attitudes of a child of God. Pastor John calls them “beautiful attitudes that bring the blessing of God’s approval and happiness to our life.” It is God who works these attitudes into our heart.
