In chapter one, Paul writes, "Timothy, my son, here are my instructions for you…Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked." It is important to keep a clear conscience so it is not destroyed. Paul goes on to tell about two men whose faith had become shipwrecked and they were removed from the church at Ephesus in hopes to restore these men.
